Pigmentation – Dual Yellow Laser

What is pigmentation?

Most common pigmented lesions are freckles, age spots, liver spots, hyperpigmentation, actinic keratosis and pigmented nevi.
They normally contain very high concentrations of melanin (pigment) and can be caused by too much sun, aging, genetics or injury.

How does the treatment work?

The green light from the Dual Yellow laser targets the melanin, which is the principle component in the lesion. Surrounding tissue remains undamaged.
You will see immediate change and in some cases the lesion will darken slightly, which is perfectly normal.
The pigment will then gradually come away over the following week. This method causes no damages to surrounding tissue and you avoid invasive procedures such as surgical removal or freezing.
This treatment is performed by a laser therapist after having completed a consultation with our Doctor.

Rejuvenation – Dual Yellow Laser

What is rejuvenation?

Rejuvenation of the skin is needed when damage occurs due to the sun or aging, which produces wrinkles or skin blemishes.You can also treat scars and stretch-marks.

How does the treatment work?

The yellow light from the Dual Yellow laser helps to generate collagen, the essential protein for giving your skin elasticity.
This happens because yellow light affects the collagen in a way that promotes regrowth; it also reduces pigmentation. So your skin will appear lightened and more youthful. With the extravasation and reabsorption of the microvasculature in the epidermis and upper dermis, skin appears refreshed, and the texture is improved with the generation of new dermal collagen.


Melasma – Dual Yellow Laser

What is melasma?

Melasma is a very common skin condition and is treatable. The darkened skin discoloration normally appears on sun exposed areas of the face.
Typically melasma occurs over the cheeks, forehead, nose or upper lip.
Melasma doesn’t cause any other symptoms besides skin discolouration but may be of great cosmetic concern.

How does the treatment work?

The overproduction of melanin (triggered by excessive amounts of VEGF) is what causes the melasma to appear.
The Dual Yellow laser transmits its light deeply into the skin to reduce VEGF (the root cause of melasma) without causing damage.
By using the Yellow light combined with unique FEM TECHNOLOGY, we achieve long term results; avoid collateral damage, pain and other side effects – A truly ‘soft’ laser with real results.

Vascular Lessions – Dual Yellow Laser

What are vascular lesions?

Vascular lesions occur when the small capillaries in your skin become dilated. When grouped together, they can give the appearance of red spots, or sometimes large stains (port wine). When spread out, they are visible as threads.

How does the treatment work?

The yellow light from the Dual Yellow laser is immediately absorbed by oxyhaemoglobinproviding instant cosmetic results.
This happens because yellow light is readily absorbed by blood to necrose the vessel, and is achieved with minimal or no pain.
The specific wavelength of 578nm exactly matches the peak absorption of Haemoglobin.

Bulky Lessions – Dual Yellow Laser

What are bulky lessions?

Bulky lesions (such as skin tags, benign moles, raised pigmented lesions and other raised lesions) are abnormalities in the skin tissue that vary in colour and texture, and may form over time for various reasons.

How does the treatment work?

The special combination G30Y light from the Dual Yellow laser is absorbed by the tissue, removing the bulky lesion permanently without causing any bleeding. This treatment uses a unique property of the Dual Yellow laser combining two different wavelengths
for optimum results.

Acne – Dual Yellow Laser

What is acne?

Acne is caused by the P Acnes bacteria, which resides in your sebaceous gland.
As the gland secretes sebum to lubricate your skin and hair, the bacteria cause infection.

How does the treatment work?

The yellow light from the Dual Yellow laser destroys the P Acne bacteria, and shrinks the sebaceous gland to reduce the production of sebum. The Dual Yellow laser is the only laser which uses photodynamic therapy to destroy bacteria, without damaging surrounding tissue. It does this by activating Proto Porphyrin 9 (PPIX) which exists in P Acne bacteria. PPIX is light sensitive at 578nm.
This treatment helps in reducing active acne and speeds up healing time of existing acne.


Vein Removal – Sclerotherapy

Spider veins are fine veins that are red or purple in colour. These can occur anywhere on the legs, but more often on the inside of the knee and outer thigh. They can contribute to unsightly and cosmetically dissatisfying appearance of the legs, as well as medical complications such as aching, swelling, appearance of bruising, ulceration, eczema and/or pigmentation.

How are they treated?

Sclerotherapy (micro-injection) is a technique that can treat most spider veins on the legs. Tiny needles are used to inject a medication (sclerosing solution) directly into the unwanted vein.
The solution acts on the inner lining of veins, causing it to collapse and shrink so that no more blood can flow through this unwanted vein. Within weeks, the unused vein is absorbed by the body and eventually becomes barely noticeable.

Do I need to do anything post treatment?

There is no downtime following treatments and you can carry on normal activities just wearing a compression stocking. Exercise is encouraged at least 30 minutes per day – any form that gets the calf muscle working.

Is the treatment successful?

Yes, sclerotherapy is a very effective method of treatment. It is the known Gold Standard of treating surface veins on the legs and thighs. You can expect improvements after a single treatment and improved success after a course of between 2 to 6 treatments.


Mole & Skin Tag Removal

Cosmetic mole and skin tag removal is a simple, painless process that safely removes unsightly lesions without surgery or cutting.

How are they removed?

We use advanced radiofrequency technology to remove mole and skin tags down to the level of the skin. The procedure is painless other than an initial small prick from a local anesthetic needle around the lesion. You will only need one treatment for each lesion.
All treatments are performed by our experienced doctor.

Do I need to do anything post treatment?

There is no downtime and one can carry on with work/usual activities (other than no swimming for 1 week).

What if I am concerned about some moles/lesions?

All mole and skin tag treatments are performed by our experienced skin doctor, who will assess all lesions, moles and skin tags prior to treatment. This can be done in many cases by simple examination, and in other cases, a biopsy, shaving or sample of the tissue in question is required for microscopic examination to determine the diagnosis.
Based on his diagnosis, our Doctor will be able to advise you on the best course of action to remove the lesion. In some cases this may be via surgical excision.
