Did you know that waxing and other traumas can cause pigmentation?
The melanocyte is the cell that is responsible for the colour of your skin and is important in regards to pigment in the skin. This cell is responsible for uneven colour in the skin and is easily activated. Once is has experienced even slight trauma the cell will continue to be a problem every time the skin comes under any type of stress.

A common type of trauma is waxing – waxing of the upper lip, eye brows and other areas can often leave women over time with a dark discolouration on these areas.

There are other triggers that will stimulate the melanocyte cell such as hormones, UV rays, medication such as the pill or low dose antibiotic, trauma such as laser, waxing, IPL, pregnancy, peels, microdermabrasion and more.

This is why when treating pigmentation it requires discipline and no false promises.

Winter is the best time to treat pigmentation because most people are in doors a lot more and are avoiding the harsh UV rays we have here in Australia.
Best place to start with combating pigmentation is by using a tyrosinase inhibitor.

A tyrosinase inhibitor will help prevent the production of this enzyme it comes in many different types of ingredients such as:

  • Daisy Flower
  • Glycolic Acid
  • Liquorice Extract
  • Mulberry Extract
  • Wakamine
  • Vitamin C

So always remember if you are prone to pigment make sure you are using a tyrosinase inhibitor before having any treatments or taking any medication that might just be everyday things.
And Slip Slop Slap!
